Kenny Ishii must have some kind of secret recipe at the Ono Family Restaurant because the line was on the sidewalk for breakfast on the way to the KIF cross country meet, Saturday.
Spaghetti was on tap for the day since Greg Gonsalves had it for the runners after the races and out in Waimea, that was the special at the food booth. MarieBeth Watanabe had one long day since she ran cross country and was doing color commentary for Michael Acoba at the volleyball game. But then, Calvin Paleka (good thing he can hear “Chariots of Fire” coming down the finish chute) had the same schedule, helping Greg at the cross country meet before watching his daughter Shannon Paleka play in Waimea.
Randon Valenciano had an even more hectic schedule since he was the ball boy for Friday night’s football game in Hanapepe, ran the cross country race and then ended the day as an official for the Pop Warner football games.
OK, time to go check out the Peace Day events around the island.
