KAPA‘A — Bill Fernandez, son of Roxy Theater founder William Antone Fernandez, will speak on old-time Kapa‘a and the theater, opened in 1939, at a free gathering at 6 p.m. today in the Kapa‘a Elementary School auditorium.
A potluck dinner is being offered, and donations are welcome, according to a news release.
Bill Fernandez is author of “The Roxy” and “Rainbows Over Kapa‘a,” and will share island history, pictures and memories of growing up in Kapa‘a during the plantation days. He will also sign copies of both books.
All interested are invited to bring stories of the Roxy Theater to share, as Jodie and Bill Fernandez are preparing a booklet to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Roxy’s grand opening.
