Bill Honjiyo has been surrounded by big shots. He was in the discussion with Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki and U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka last week, and Friday night, just happened to be on duty at the Kaua‘i Veterans Council (you can purchase fundraising tickets from M. Kawamura Farm Enterprises, too) when Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona showed up at the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair.
Sandy Kato-Klutke was “volunteering” at the fair’s information booth and had time to break away to visit her grandson who was helping Mark Oyama at the Cattlemen’s Association Kau Kau Corner where the Kaua‘i Community College culinary arts students were helping with the ono (!!!) brisket. The KCC students start up Fine Dining tomorrow (Happy Birthday, Cheri Bagain!).
Congratulations to Melissa McFerrin, Roy Oyama and all those hard-working (Kelly Gooding had his bicycle stashed somewhere) Kaua‘i Farm Bureau members on a great event!
Mahalo to Mona Lee (I didn’t know she was an anthurium club member) for tracking down the winner of the “Best in Show.” Oops, it’s time to check out the 4-H show. … Hallie Cristobal (she swept the 4-H Market Hog show) did a great job hostessing the 4-H Steer competition.
OK, ‘nuff said… time to check on Pono Market.
