LIHU‘E — All types of electronic items — including televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, printers, fax machines and stereo equipment — will be accepted for recycling during an upcoming event, county officials announced Thursday.
The two-day recycling event will be held in the Vidinha Stadium parking lot on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday’s collection is designated for businesses. Businesses should pre-register for the event by calling 241-4841. Saturday’s collection is open to residents. There is no charge to participate in this county-sponsored event.
Items collected will be shipped to E-World Recyclers in California for recycling and reuse.
All data storage devices collected will be cleaned or destroyed. Those who are concerned about sensitive data should remove the data prior to recycling by using any of the following methods: remove or retain the hard drive; physically destroy the hard drive; or erase data from the hard drive.
For instructions on how to erase data from a hard drive, please contact a computer specialist.
