Congratulations to Coach Orlando Anaya and his umbrella of ‘ohana that made the Fun Meet ‘09 such a great success…the cheer contest was awesome! Great job, Cathy Shimabukuro!
Jim Rosa is listed as one of the behind-the-scenes guys, but I think he is at the front of the line when it comes to getting things done…free popcorn and shave ice for the swimmers!
And, of course, there were the East Kaua‘i Lions Kelvin Moniz who had to get up early from refereeing the Kalani/Kapa‘a football game, Roy Nishida who will be at this Saturday’s football game, and Emmett Honjiyo (he is a whiz when it comes to computer talk) and Diane Kent.
Nalani Brun was supposed to be the head timekeeper, but she was everywhere doing all kinds of stuff, and if you catch the Mokihana video on the TGI Web site, you’ll see Team Leader Kaitlin Santos with Kesia Anaya. And you’ll hear the voice of Lloyd “Da Molokai Flash” Yonemura doing a great job with poolside announcing.
Kaitlin and Kaitlyn Jarry and Ryan Valenciano are the veteran swimmers and did a good job getting all the younger swimmers squared away. In fact, even Placido Valenciano had to get up early from the Saturday night football game.
Aimee Iwamoto’s state record-breaking swim from the Pearl City Aquatics is just the plum on top the pudding. Great job to all!
