Hats off to Corey Morishita and Ross Shimabukuro for doing a great job with the Red-and-White volleyball game, Friday night. It’s nice to see Kaua‘i alumni on the other side of the ball as Marissa Bonilla was helping some of the girls with their hair and former players Ashley (Kawaihalau) Schenk and Kandice (Cummings) Poloa were in the coaches’ box during the game.
Wayne Doliente said volleyball is a year-round thing with him and he’ll be around when the Kaua‘i Challenge tournament starts up, Thursday.
Coach Corey said some of the Mainland teams arrive as early as today and will be getting in some practice time at the schools.
In the meantime, Kaua‘i Community College starts its Sustainability Series of classes as early as Friday, so if you’re interested in registering for any of them, go visit Cheryl Fujii or Colleen Kaiminaoao at the KCC Office of Continuing Education and Training.
Rhonda Liu was busy with orientation and there were so many prospective students, KCC Bookstore manager Jolynne Uyesono had to kind of keep an eye on how many could enter the store at one time. She said the big rush comes on Aug. 24 when classes start since the bookstore cannot open on Saturday because of budget cuts.
