Congratulations to Pina Melchor and Sharla Hasegawa (aka Minnie Mouse) of the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, and Steve Kline (you need to check out his occupational therapy gizmos) of the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital and Sue Provonsha of the West Kaua‘i Medical Center on their nominations for the Hawai‘i Health System Corp. Annual Employee Regional Recognition Awards for 2008.
Pina was nominated for the Spirit Award, Sharla for Innovation (no wonder she’s the Minnie Mouse), Steve for Community (did you ever try eating a sundae using occupational aids?) and Sue for Excellence. Very well deserved and what a great way to start a new month!
How many of you knew that Thursday was Beer Summit Day? Stephanie Krieger of Nani Moon Mead (you can find out about mead, today, behind the Kapa‘a Kaua‘i Pasta) closed her shop early in honor of Beer Summit Day. And when you check out the honey wine (honey from local beekeepers), note that Shastin Snyder (she’s great with graphic design!) did the labels … truly a unique Kaua‘i product. Mead Day is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
And, if you’ve got time, drop in and say hi to Avery Kano, next door.
Happy Friendship Day, Kaua‘i! It’s on Aug. 2.
