HANAPEPE — Westside firefighters responded to three small brushfires Friday, according to a county press release. The first fire broke out in the vicinity of Glass Beach in Hanapepe at around 12:37 p.m, and was fully extinguished within 20 minutes.

The first fire broke out in the vicinity of Glass Beach in Hanapepe at around 12:37 p.m, and was fully extinguished within 20 minutes. Approximately 500 square feet of brush burned in the fire, the release said.
The Hanapepe firefighters had just returned to their station after putting out the Glass Beach fire when they were called to a fire near a rock quarry on Halewiliwili Road, which broke out at 1:07 p.m.
It was deemed under control 10 minutes later after burning roughly 1,500 square feet of brush.
Meanwhile, Kalaheo firefighters responded to a brushfire, also on Halewiliwili Road, about a mile fom its intersection with Kaumuali‘i Highway, at around 1:15 p.m., the release said.
It was deemed under control nine minutes later, burning around 75 square feet of brush.
