The public has been helping Kaua‘i Police Department officers track down some of the island’s most wanted criminals, calling dispatch to alert officers of whereabouts of wanted persons, said Lt. Sherwin Kaleo Perez of the KPD Patrol Services Bureau.
“We appreciate the public’s assistance and we welcome the continued phone calls with information on wanted persons,” he said in an e-mail Tuesday.
Dispatch received calls about a wanted person who has moved off the island. Another reported seeing a wanted person some time ago at a certain location, and others inquired about bail, jail time, and other matters, he said.
In addition to Sasha Lilysue Marchant getting arrested by vice officers last week, David Wayne Makai Olanolan turned himself in, taking two of the first five most-wanted people off that list, Perez said.
This week, a man wanted for alleged sexual assault and two others wanted on drug charges are on the most-wanted list.
Nelson Keith Olshefski, 33, with a last known address in Koloa, is Filipino, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He is wanted on a grand jury warrant for three counts of first-degree sexual assault, and two counts of third-degree sexual assault. His bail is $100,000.
Sean Christopher Scates, 28, with a last known address in Kapa‘a, is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 220 pounds, is black, with brown eyes and black hair. He is wanted on three bench warrants, two for contempt of court for failure to appear in court for scheduled hearings, and the other for second-degree commercial promotion of marijuana, second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, and unlawful use or possession of drug paraphernalia. His total bail is $19,000.
Lionel Pa‘aluhi Silva, 38, is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 275 pounds, and is white with hazel eyes and brown hair. His last known address was in Kalaheo. He is wanted on two bench warrants, one for revocation or modification of probation, and the other for third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, false reporting to law-enforcement authorities, and unlawful use or possession of drug paraphernalia. His total bail is $15,000.
Michael Ray Wilson, 33, is 5 feet 11 inches tall, 175 pounds, white, with brown hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in Kapa‘a. He is wanted on one grand jury warrant alleging first-degree criminal property damage, third-degree assault and fist-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. His total bail is $15,000.
Devon Mancoo Finney, 27, with a last known address in Koloa, is black, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 274 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, and is wanted on two bench warrants dating back to 2007, on a motion for revocation of probation (bail set at $5,000) and motion for revocation or modification of probation for failure to comply with court orders (bail set at $2,000).
Additionally, two of those on last week’s list of 20 names wanted for various warrants turned themselves in, Perez said.
