Horseshoe pitching fundraiser to aid Pop Warner cheerleaders
There will be a Doubles Team Horseshoe Pitching fundraiser at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Anahola Horseshoe courts, which will benefit the Cheer Program for the Kapa‘a Pop Warner Cheerleaders.
It will be a one-day event with prizes. Cost is $10 per player, $20 per team. The money raised will help 16 cheerleaders with their expenses for this year. The public is invited to come out, participate and have some fun with family and friends.

Family golf festival
Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club announced that it will be hosting its second annual Family Golf Festival from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8 in Lihu‘e.
It is hoping to promote a sense of “togetherness in golf,” according to a press release.
The Marriott International Family Golf Fesival, which encourages parents and children to learn and play the game together, is inviting families to Kaua‘i Lagoons for an afternoon of free golf activities and instruction, including short game and full swing clinics.
Participants will have the chance to win a variety of prizes and will also be treated to complimentary beverages. Stations and clinics set up throughout the day will include swing clinics, driver fitting, short game clinics and rules and etiquette stations for beginners.

Pop Warner registration
Koloa Pop Warner Association is having its football and cheer registration for the Jr. Pee Wee, Jr. Midget and Midget divisions.
The football and cheer programs are looking for children who will be between age 5 and 15 by Aug. 1 of this year.
The 5 – 7 year olds will be their water boys and mascots.
Registration for the 2009 programs will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, as well as 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays at the Koloa Ball Park Pavilion.
Registration will run until Aug. 11.

Kaua‘i HS girls volleyball tryouts start Monday
Tryouts for the Kaua‘i High School Girls’ Volleyball program will start Monday for the upcoming Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation 2009 season.
A mandatory parents meeting for potential varsity players will be held Monday starting at 7:15 p.m. at
the Kaua‘i High School
gym.
Tryouts for the varsity program will be Monday through Wednesday at the Kaua‘i High School gym from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Junior varsity tryouts will be from Wednesday through Friday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Kaua‘i Channel Race next Friday
The Nawiliwili Yacht Club announced the Kaua‘i Channel Race from O‘ahu to Kaua‘i will take place on July 31.
Boats will leave Ko‘Olina Marina starting at 7 a.m., Friday and arrive at Nawiliwili Harbor that afternoon.
The public is invited to view the arrivals from either the Nawiliwili Harbor, or the grounds of the Ninini Point Lighthouse.
A post-race get-together at the NYC Clubhouse will follow.
Awards, music and pupus will take place on Aug. 1.
