Red Raiders host Speed & Agility football camp
Kaua‘i High School football coach Derek Borrero and the Red Raiders football team will be working with young players this Saturday starting at 3:30 p.m. at the school’s athletic field.
The Kaua‘i High School Football Boosters invites young players from 8 to 15 years old to participate in the Speed & Agility Camp headed up by Borrero, his coaching staff and the football players.
Registration is $5 per player and the first 200 registrants will receive a free T-shirt. Registration takes place from 3 to 3:30 p.m. at the school’s athletic field located behind the gym.
The clinic will run from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
Canoe Racing Association final regatta
The Garden Island Canoe Racing Association final regatta will be taking place this Saturday at 8 a.m. at Hanalei Bay. There will be over 40 outrigger canoe events for competitors, starting with the 8-year-old keiki race and going up to the men and women’s masters, 60 and Over events.
Open Water Swim
The Namolokama Canoe Club will be sponsoring an Open Water Swim at 9 a.m. on July 25 at Hanalei Pier. The event is for all keiki and adults with two events around the pier for keiki and adult events including a one-half mile, one-mile and for the first time this year, a two-mile swim.
Pre-registration has concluded, but entrants can still register from 7 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. the day of the event.
Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Kaua‘i Food Bank.

Koloa Plantation Days Paddlefest 2009
Kukui’ula Outrigger Canoe Club, Pu’uwai Canoe Club and YMCA Kaua’i Hoe Wa’a are sponsoring a day of paddling fun, learning and competition on Sunday as part of the weeklong Koloa Plantation Days Celebration. July 18-26.
This event is for community fun, but also to honor the history of outrigger canoes and other paddling sports on the South shore and around our island. Various outrigger canoe and paddling activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Po’ipu Beach Park.
