Toshio Kimura
Toshio Kimura of Wailuku died on July 9, 2009, in his home at age 85. Born on July 29, 1923, in Kilauea, he was the owner of Paukukalo Store.
He is survived by his wife Kunie Kimura, sons Lloyd (Jennie) Kimura and Jay (Louann) Kimura, daughter Kathleen Watts, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sisters Frances Harada and Yvonne Kajikawa.
Visitation at 4 p.m., service at 5 p.m., on Saturday, July 18 at Valley Isle Fellowship.
Nakamura Mortuary assisted with the arrangements.

Fred G. Sasan of Puhi died July 11, 2009, at Garden Isle Health Care at age 75. Born on June 8, 1934, in Lihu‘e, he retired as a Welding and Machine Shop Superintendent for McBryde Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents Timoteo and Francis Sasan and sister Lillian Sasan.
He is survived by his wife Camela Sasan; son Frederick (Lori) Sasan; daughter Melanie (John) Borales; brothers Jay (Diana) Sasan, Richard (Liane) Sasan, William (Mary) Sasan; sisters, Josephine (Victor) Bigno, Lucille (Tony) Bargayo; grandchildren Malia (Colin) Ceda, Joshua Rapanot, Iris (Joseph) Rapanot, Scot Sasan, Jonathan Borales, Lorinda Sasan; great-grandchildren, Andrew Rapanot, Derek Terzi, Zipporah Ceda, Ananiah Ceda and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at Lihu‘e Missionary Church with visitation from 9 a.m. and services beginning at 10 a.m. Internment will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Sasan family with arrangements.
Patrick Powell Jr.
Patrick Alexander Powell Jr. of Hanama‘ulu died July 9, 2009, at age 25. Born on January 16, 1984, in Lihu‘e, he was a construction worker.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Charles Powell and maternal grandparents Orpiano and Loretta Gandia.
He is survived by his children Daysha-Lynn, Kaimana, Kekai “Sam” and Kailah; father Patrick (Kristine Young) Powell Sr.; mother Gay Ann Gandia; paternal grandmother Shirley Powell; siblings Michael Kiyabu, Lori (Glen) Balisacan, Shelsy Hutchinson, Devon and Joshua Powell; companion Christina “Hone” Reis; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and extended ‘ohana.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, July 20, at Lydgate Park — Large Pavilion, with visitation at 3 p.m. and services beginning at 5:30 p.m. Scattering of ashes to be done at a later date. Casual attire suggested.
