Helen Kaneshiro
Helen Harue Kaneshiro of Lihu‘e died June 22, 2009, at Straub Clinic and Hospital, in Honolulu, at age 84. She was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Waiahole, O‘ahu.
She is survived by husband Seiso Kaneshiro of Lihu‘e, sons Earl (Grace) Kaneshiro of Kalaheo and Arnold Kaneshiro of Kalaheo, daughter Norma English of Pearl City, sisters Fumiko (Seishin) Kaneshiro of Pearl City and Sadako Yonamine of Honolulu and three grandchildren.
Visitation at10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at the Koloa Missionary Church.
Casual attire suggested; flowers are omitted.

Take Robert Yamashiro of Kapa‘a died June 30, 2009, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 81. Born Jan. 5, 1928, in Kapa‘a, he was a retired police lieutenant with Kaua‘i Police Department.
He was preceded i n death by wife Mervilyn Yamashiro, parents Matsu and Masu Yamashiro, brothers Gordon “Kenshi” Yamashiro and Kensuke Yamashiro and sister Ruth Yamashiro.
He is survived by son Clayton (Dawn) Yamashiro of Waipahu; daughter Renee (Elza) Yamashiro of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers Kenji (Doris) Yamashiro of Honolulu and George (Lennie) Yamashiro of Farmington, Maine; sisters Mildred Moriyama of Honolulu, Shizue Akamine of Honolulu, Nancy Toyama of Kapa‘a and Florence Hughes of Honolulu; stepson Russell Iida of Indiana; stepdaughter Stephanie Nago of Kapa‘a; daughter-in-law Patricia “Momi” Yamashiro of Kapa‘a; sister-in-law Shigeko Yamashiro of Kapa‘a; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at Kapa‘a Missionary Church.

Thorval Miller
Thorval Miller of Kapa‘a died June 26, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 84. Born Feb. 28, 1925, in Elma, Wash., he was a retired Los Angeles fire captain.
He is survived by his wife Ellender Miller of Kapa‘a, son Geoffrey Miller of Des Moines, Iowa, and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date.

Elsie Yago Pamulo died June 21, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 39. Born Sept. 3, 1969 in Sinait, Philippines, she was a cargo agent and crew chief with Aloha Air Cargo.
She was preceded in death by her father Romeo Pamulo.
She is survived by her mother Emilia Pamulo; sister Romelyn (Jose) Pamulo-Pena; brother Romeo (Angela) Pamulo; friend Marcy Fontanilla; nephews Chyson Pena, Colbey Pena; Isabella Lyons.
Visitation from 6-9 p.m., service at 7 p.m., on Friday, July 17, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel, Koloa.
Visitation at 8:30 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 18, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

William Rapozo
William Rapozo of Kapa‘a died June 30, 2009, on O‘ahu at age 82. Born on Jan. 12, 1927, in Kilauea, he retired as a machinist for Hawaiian Fruit Packers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Antone and Rosalia Correia Rapozo.
He is survived by his daughter Valerie (Raymond) Ornellas; grandchildren Shaylyn (Jan) Kimura, Raynelle (Chris) Hochuli, Kanani (Dustin) Troop, Preston Ornellas, Chelsea Ornellas, Sherry and Keola Laride; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Katherine Silva of Maui; brothers-in-law Val Freitas of California, Gene Evans of Maui and Kalani Tachibana of Kaua‘i.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., July 20, at the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
MacArthur Dela Cruz Sr.
MacArthur Dela Cruz Sr. of Kekaha died July 2, 2009 at age 64. Born on October 17, 1944 in Waimea, he retired from Kekaha Sugar Co. and Syngenta.
He was preceded in death by son Darren Dela Cruz, parents Vicente and Rose Mary Dela Cruz and brothers Rudy and Gilbert Dela Cruz.
He is survived by wife Linda Dela Cruz, sons MacArthur “Bae” (Jodie) Dela Cruz Jr. and Doren Dela Cruz, brother Robert Dela Cruz, sister Gladys Cherry, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m., service from 10:30-11 a.m., on Saturday, July 18 at MacArthur Park in Kekaha.

Harris Tatsuo Moriguchi of Lihu‘e died July 10, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 59. Born on March 23, 1950 in Waimea, he was a retired Police Captain with the County of Kaua‘i.
He is survived by wife Laraine Moriguchi, son Mason Moriguchi of Waimea, daughter Mia Moriguchi of Honolulu, brothers Charles (Betty) Moriguchi of Kekaha and Bert (Lynn) Moriguchi of Kailua, sister Jane (Barney) Mateo of ‘Ele‘ele, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ayako Shibao of Waimea, Kaua‘i died July 11, 2009, at Kaua‘i Care Center at age 96. Born on June 13, 1913, in Kealia, she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kinichiro and Tsuru Fujimoto Hyoto; husband Kanta Shibao; brothers Takumi and Tadashi Hyoto of Hilo; Mamoru Hyoto of Anahola; sisters Matsuko Noda of ‘Ele‘ele and Norma Sakaguchi of Kapa‘a.
She is survived by her son Kenneth (Patsy) Shibao of Waimea, Kaua‘i; daughters May (Shigeo) Tsuhako of Waimea, Kaua‘i and June (Bill) Woodall of Kekaha; grandchildren Cindy (Dean) Oshiro, Dr. Stacie (Dr. Brock) Kaya, Joy (Sergio) Salas, Lori (Kevin) Carl, Sheri (Chris) Koike, Gretchen (Tony) Flores and Christy (Rev. Colby) Torres; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred G. Sasan of Puhi died July 11, 2009, at Garden Isle Health Care at age 75. Born on June 8, 1934, in Lihu‘e, he retired as a Welding and Machine Shop Superintendent for McBryde Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents Timoteo and Francis Sasan and sister Lillian Sasan.
He is survived by his wife Camela Sasan; son Frederick (Lori) Sasan; daughter Melanie (John) Borales; brothers Jay (Diana) Sasan, Richard (Liane) Sasan, William (Mary) Sasan; sisters, Josephine (Victor) Bigno, Lucille (Tony) Bargayo; grandchildren Malia (Colin) Ceda, Joshua Rapanot, Iris (Joseph) Rapanot, Scot Sasan, Jonathan Borales, Lorinda Sasan; great-grandchildren, Andrew Rapanot, Derek Terzi, Zipporah Ceda, Ananiah Ceda and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at Lihu‘e Missionary Church with visitation from 9 a.m. and services beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Patrick Powell Jr.
Patrick Alexander Powell Jr. of Hanama‘ulu died July 9, 2009, at age 25. Born on Jan. 16, 1984, in Lihu‘e, he was a construction worker.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Charles Powell and maternal grandparents Orpiano and Loretta Gandia.
He is survived by his children Daysha-Lynn, Kaimana, Kekai “Sam” and Kailah; father Patrick (Kristine Young) Powell Sr.; mother Gay Ann Gandia; paternal grandmother Shirley Powell; siblings Michael Kiyabu, Lori (Glen) Balisacan, Shelsy Hutchinson, Devon and Joshua Powell; companion Christina “Hone” Reis; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and extended ‘ohana.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, July 20, at Lydgate Park – Large Pavillion, with visitation at 3 p.m. and services beginning at 5:30 p.m. Scattering of ashes to be done at a later date. Casual attire suggested.

Annie Gomes Blume of Wailua Riverlots died June 17, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 79. Born on July 11, 1929, in Honolulu, she retired as an office clerk at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her son Timothy (Irene) Blume and daughter Laura (Andrew) Higa both of Wailua Homesteads; sisters Frances (Jules) Martin of Los Angeles, Sophie Liebold of Pennsylvania; brothers Herbert (Barbara) Gomes and Philip (Mary) Gomes both of O‘ahu and three grandchildren.
Visitation at 4 p.m., service at 5 p.m., Sunday, July 26, at Lihu‘e Missionary Church on Rice Street. Private burial services were done at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Dimeterio “Dime” Mier Dannog of Numila died July 9, 2009, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 75. Born on Feb. 18, 1934, in Koloa, he was a pump tender for McBryde Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mariano and Maria Dannog; sisters Annie Racelis and Rita Mira.
He is survived by his wife Nena Caoagas Dannog of Numila, sons Jayson Dannog and Brandon Dannog of Numila, sisters Natividad Maainil of Nevada and Dolores Alpeche of Lihu‘e, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing from 9-10:30 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 18, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Burial at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Adelina Escober Paet of Hanama‘ulu died July 13, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 64. Born on Sept. 21, 1944, in Prito Diaz, Philippines, she was an accountant for Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father Adolfo Escober and granddaughter Connor Plowman.
She is survived by her husband Pedro “Larry” Paet of Hanama‘ulu, Mother Tranquilina Escober of Hanama‘ulu, son Chad (Divina) Paet Plowman of Lihu‘e, daughter Hazel (Dexter) Juvan of Lihu‘e and six grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at Immaculate Conception church with viewing from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
