Joseph Goo
Joseph Kanakahelela Tu Kui Goo died June 7, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 78. Born April 4, 1931, in Honolulu, he was retired from the Maintenance Department for the State Harbor and Transportation Division.
He was preceded in death by his Wife Ruth Luka Kanoho Goo.
He is survived by daughters Cheryl (Dwayne) Goo-Rego, Jonette (George) Goo-Fraticelli of O‘ahu and Terri Goo; son Kimo (Natalia) Cabral; grandchildren Keoni Souza of California, Keanuhea and Ke‘alawaianuhea “Tu Kui” Rego, Iokepa and Kai‘ulani Fraticelli of O‘ahu, Kawailele, Kahekili and Jaesha Cabral, Ku‘ukeikihone and Kalukalani Goo; sisters Josephine (George) Kawakami and Elizabeth (Tony) Salis of O‘ahu; brothers Christian “Chaney” Goo of Big Island, Hans Goo of California and Charles Kim; numerous nieces, nephews, ‘ohana and friends.
A celebration of his life wiill be held at Borthwick Koloa Mortuary on July 11, with visitation from 9-11 a.m. and service to follow. Family requests wreaths and large flower arrangements be omitted; leis are welcomed.
Bessie Cummings
Bessie Misue Cummings of Kapa‘a died in her home July 1, 2009, at age 89. Born Feb. 21, 1920, in Kapa‘a, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters Elizabeth (James) Alfiler, Patience Cummings and Linda Morishige; grandchildren Kanai (Mark) Furugen, Peter (Jennifer) Morishige, Jason (Linda) Alfiler, Christine (Eric) Eichholz; sisters Bernice Saiki, Alice Victorino, Jane (Richard) Kashiwabara; sister-in-law Minnie Maeno; nine great-granchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 11, at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church with visitation at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.
Casual attired requested; flowers are omitted.

Mary Rapozo
Mary R. Rapozo of Kilauea died July 4, 2009, at the Wailua ‘Ohana Carehome at age 90. Born Nov. 1, 1918, in Lihu‘e, she retired as a baker at the Hanalei Plantation Hotel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond S. Rapozo.
She is survived by her sons Russell (Lorene) Rapozo of Wailua, Raymond R. (Sally) Rapozo of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Gilbert Rapozo of Kapa‘a, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 10, at St. Sylvester’s Church in Kilauea with visitation from 9-9:45 a.m. and Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Miki Kaipaka
Miki Kaipaka of Lihu‘e died July 5, 2009, in Lihu‘e at age 74. Born Oct. 23, 1934, in Boston, Mass., she was the former owner of Mikioni Photography Shop and Sea Sage Dive Shops in Hanalei, Kapa‘a and Po‘ipu.
She was preceded in death by her parents Morris and Gertrude Rubin.
She is survived by her sister Harriet Rubin and partner Del Filardi; brother Norman (Wendy Dicker) Rubin; cousin Ernie Nankas and family; children Nancy Myrick, David Myrick, Johnny Kaipaka and Kimi Kaipaka Beaven; grandchildren Keshava Kaipaka and Dahlia Sonali Beaven.
Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Kaua‘i Hospice Inc., 4457 Pahee St., Lihu‘e.

Rudy Ramos
Rudy Phillip Ramos of Waimea died July 4, 2009, at The Queen’s Hospital at age 62. He was a self-employed excavation contractor, an active member of the Garden Island Racing Association and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arcadio and Elizabeth Rapozo Ramos, infant brother Patrick and in-laws Domingo and Alberta Graychochea of Kahuku.
He is survived by his wife Francine Tejada Ramos, son Rudy L. Kelani Ramos of Waianae, brothers Donald (Sherry) of Mililani and Cedric (Sheryl), sisters Maxine and Dolores Ramos of Kaua‘i, brothers-in-law Francisco (Cissy), Allan (Ramona) Tejada, Don (Suzy), Devi (Marc) of Kahuku and Duran (DJ) Graychochea of Lihu‘e.
A Celebration of his life will be on Saturday, July 11, at the Church of Latter-day Saints, Lihu‘e Ward, with visitation from 9-11 a.m. and service at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
