PHOENIX — Three teams from Pookela Volleyball Club in Lihu‘e and one from Hooika‘ika Volleyball Club in Waimea are competing at the 26th annual Volleyball Festival in Phoenix, Ariz.
The Pookela 14-year-old squad has a 6-3 record after its first nine matches, winning 13 of 21 sets to this point. It currently ranks 60th out of 103 teams entered in the division.
The Pookela 16s have a 6-5 record, winning 13 sets while dropping 13. The same team finished ranked 103 out of 150 teams in last year’s competition.
The 18-year-old team from Pookela has a 6-8 record and has taken 14 sets while dropping 20.
The 17-year-old unit from Hooika‘ika has won one of its 10 games to this point, dropping 18 of 22 sets.
