MILILANI — Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association teams finished with one first-place and two second-place finishes in the Mililani Inline Hockey tournament held over the weekend on O‘ahu.
Team Kaua‘i, playing in the First Pool B in the 12 and Under division, topped OIHL Select 5-1, in the Sunday playoffs, advancing to the championship round where it emerged a 2-1 winner over Tenbatsu for the trophy.
This was the sixth consecutive first-place finish in state competition for the 12U team, during which time they haven’t lost a single game.
In the 18 Under class, Team Kaua‘i’s squad finished with the silver after being outscored 4-2 by the championship Dookie Fish team.
A 16 Under Team Kaua‘i also finished second in its division after being edged 3-2 by the title-winning Dookie Fish. Earlier in the tournament, Team Kaua‘i suffered a 3-0 loss from the Fish, Friday before rebounding to a 5-1 win over OIHL Select. It then got a second 4-0 win over OIHL Select in the Saturday playoffs.
The 18 Under Team Kaua‘i opened the tournament with a 6-1 win over Team Maui and finished in second place, dropping 2-1 to Dookie Fish and rebounding for another 6-1 win over Team Maui, Saturday night.
Team Kaua‘i’s 14 Under squad opened with a 4-3 loss to Team Maui, but rebounded to a 2-2 stalemate against OIHL Select, Friday.
Team Kaua‘i’s 10 Under squad suffered two opening day losses, a 7-0 drop to MDF followed by a 7-4 loss at the hands of Team Maui, Friday.
It rebounded to a 2-0 win over the Mililani RedHawks before dropping its final game 5-1 to OIHL Select, Saturday.
The 12U Team Kaua‘i started its climb to gold, opening with a 4-1 win over Team Maui, Friday, and following that with a 9-0 win over United, Saturday morning.
