But Mary Ann wasn’t the only hole-in-one over the weekend as Hilo’s Taisei Negishi was thrilled with his ace on the No. 2 hole at Kaua‘i Lagoons, Friday. He was more thrilled to receive the hole banner and a brand new ball as a prize for his feat. And yes, he was a qualifier in the 11-12 Boys for the Junior World (Kim Yama said she tried to qualify, but…).
Speaking of Kim, her sister Lauren was working really hard to keep all of those golfers together during the two-day tournament. Great job, Lauren, Rachel Kyono-Dela Cruz, Mary Bea Porter King, Scott Ashworth and all the volunteers.
Mahalo to coach Clay Tang of Ikaika Basketball for the cool team shirt. Clay was at the KYBA 17 Under Boys tournament that started Thursday. Great job to Karen and Steven Matsumoto for pulling it together. The boys were excited to play and Nicole Palacio (yes, her brother Brandon was playing for Kaua‘i Basketball) and Jullynn Ramos got all excited about all the Friday action.
