Today is the day for Joe Grace at the KJ Lunchwagon in front of the PS&D store in Lihu‘e. Joe said he’s been offering prime rib on Wednesdays and was surprised when it sold out on the first time. Since then, he’s put prime rib on his Wednesday lunch menus and has been doing really well.
Hats off to Paula Saylor and all those Rotary Club of Kapa‘a members on a great “Taste of Hawai‘i!” Seems like everyone had the ‘ohana working and Chef Larry Eells of the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa changed their location this year.
Paige Talvi said the new Hukilau chef was online for this event, and Russ Talvi was especially proud of Gaylord’s Kaua‘i-made creation (you can check with Ted Javellana for some Kaua‘i-grown sweet onions).
Edwin Vea stopped peddling manapua bags for Karin Panui to instead push the Beach House’s Kaua‘i-made creation, and someone discovered that leftover ingredients make good tilapia bait.
Of course, this is the annual get-together with Zach Octavio and his ‘ohana from American Medical Response.
Dr. Kani Blackwell was bidding on some items at the silent auction (Bohdi Shabab was thrilled with the tie-dyes), and weren’t there some green “Grow Our Own Teachers” T-shirts floating around as volunteers (how come they didn’t have to wear the yellow “Volunteer” shirts?).
