Laura Haack (her husband was working with Nicole Farr on the field) had her yellow shoes on for the Blue-and-White game as she sat with the Waimea High School band. She said her two sons, the percussionist and trumpet player, graduate this year and will be trying out for the band in college.
Beth Cuizon was conducting the band and that made up for that group’s absence at the Memorial Day service. If you want a fix of Menehune music, tonight is “Time to Say Goodbye” starting at 7 p.m. at the KCC Performing Arts Center, and donations are accepted.
Hats off to coach Kealii Aguiar on a great Blue-and-White game. Jane Garma was sitting with the cheer coaches since daughter Kristen is graduating next week as well.
More kudos to Kahanu Smith and the King Kamehameha Day Committee on another great parade, Saturday.
Lenny Rapozo, director of the Parks and Recreation Department, was up for the event despite doing white hat duty at the Blue-and-White game, and even had time along the parade route to remind another official of the Red-and-White game.
Lorna Ouderkirk is a perpetual queen since she was supposed to just bring horses for the parade, but ended up being the pa‘u queen. Great job to all!
