Congratulations and kudos to the organizers of all the Memorial Day weekend tournaments that has this island hopping with visitors.
Cory Gokan (he’s with Da Bash) was sunburnt from working so hard at the baseball tournament, and Karen and Steven Matsumoto were thrilled with how well the basketball teams were getting along. Mahalo to David and Sam Pratt for all the help with coordinating the golf tournaments. Sharron Weber (she was checking out more orchids at the sunshine market) was supposed to be on the course, Sunday.
Coach Leonard Vegas was enjoying the final West Kaua‘i Mustang games from the shade at Kalawai Park. His daughter Alyssa (oops, it’s Malu) is on the roster for Kaulupono. Even Tom Clements had time in the long weekend to watch the final games before the playoffs start later.
Reggie McCabe has been balancing her time between the basketball tournament and the volleyball tournament going on in Waimea, and hopefully, there aren’t any other shindigs going on.
Rhonda Liu had her student ambassador Lea Tumaneng helping at the first KCC at the Mall event, Saturday. Lea was a first runner-up in the 2008 Miss Kaua‘i Filipina and is heading to Hanover College in Indiana for computer science.
OK, don’t forget, Memorial Day services, 10 a.m., Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.
