Real gold and diamonds are on Brian Viloria’s world champion belt that young boxers from the Kaua‘i Police Activities League, Lihu‘e stable, got to touch, feel and carry.
Garrett Tehero was escorting the two-time boxing world champion and brought him to the K-PAL gym to chat with the young boxers and some of the K-PAL Lihu‘e Patriot flag football players that were practicing at the North Vidinha field. Garrett said Brian will be making an appearance at the Hanapepe Boxing Club around 6 p.m. tonight.
Brian’s message to the young athletes was the same as those being presented by Gary Shimabukuro and Detective Mark Middleton at the Waimea High School presentation, Monday night. The pair will be appearing tonight at Hanalei School for parents of Hanalei and Kilauea schools.
Kudos to Theresa Koki for coordinating the presentation, and kudos to Lorna Santos and Kelly (Soto) Rockstrom of the Lawai Cannery Mini Storage on their great garage sale. Yes, Theresa was there helping sell some stuff, too.
Lorna said a lot of the vendors donate whatever is not sold to the Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity Restore thrift shop. (Janis Benn said the next crop of volunteers start arriving June 14.)
OK, time to check out Fig Mitchell and the Kawaihau Little League Majors — the Mariners and Yankees are tied at 5-2.
