Annie Kaui Smythe of Kapa‘a died April 23, 2009, at home at age 75. Born May 31, 1933, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughter-in-law Clorinda (Paul Jr.) Brede; brothers Oliver (Mew Lang) Pickford of Honolulu, William (Jung) Kaohi of Honolulu, Kawika Kahanu of California; sister Julia Solomon of Honolulu; grandchildren Jennifer (Alfonso) Smythe, Timothy (Liana) Smythe Jr. and Brandon Brede; great-grandchildren Kaimana Kaauwai and Keolamana Giltner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel; service at 10 a.m.
Burial to follow at 12:15 p.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Guillermo Salac
Guillermo Salac of Waianae died April 27, 2009, at Hawai‘i Medical West in Ewa Beach at age 85. Born Feb. 10, 1924, in Koloa, he was a retired emergency medical technician for the city and county of Honolulu.
He is survived by wife Esperanza; son Leighton; daughters Fredlyn Estrella, Michele Tomita, Edwina Salac-Takasaki, Alison Ries and Carol Hamilton; brother Alex; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at Borthwick Mortuary; service 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.
Burial 1 p.m. at Hawai‘i State Veterans Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested.

Teofista Ganal Balisacan died April 23, 2009. Born Sept. 14, 1913, in Sarrat Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Simon, sons Pacifico and Gerardo and daughter Maria.
She is survived by daughters Juliana (Felix) Ganiron of Lihu‘e, Marina (Tito) Gano of Lihu‘e; son Pedro (Caridad) Balisacan of Kapa‘a; grandchildren Fhilamer Joy (Thomas) Kim of Vancouver, B.C., Fern Jennifer (Flaviano Jr.) Reyes of Portland, Ore., Fae Gwen (Anson) Wooding of Boston, Mass., Michael Balisacan of Honolulu, Richie (Kanani) Gano; great-grandchildren T.J., Lauryn, Christian, Forrest, Richie Kimo and Madison; sisters-in-law Primitiva Balisacan, Esperanza Balisacan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wake service 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 22, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa. Funeral service with viewing from 8 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia; Mass at 10 a.m.
