The Kaua‘i Red Raiders beat Kalaheo 13-8 on Wednesday to move on to the HHSAA Division II softball semifinal round.
Kaua‘i scored 10 runs in the final two innings to pull away for the win.
Wailani Borrero was the winning pitcher and also scored two runs. Jessica Iwata was 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles.
Jori Jasper was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Melia Aki had two hits, including a home run.
Waimea fell in its bid to advance against no. 3 seed KS-Hawai‘i, 4-3.
The Menehunes managed just four hits, Tanisha Defabian collecting two.
Michelle Koerte took the loss, though she gave up just one run after the first inning.
Kiani Wong got the win for KS-Hawai‘i.
In the state volleyball tournament, the Waimea boys defeated Honoka‘a, three games to one.
Waimea won the first two games, 25-14 and 25-16, respectively, before dropping game three, 25-21. They regrouped to secure the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth contest.
Quinn Gonsalves led the way with 14 kills, while Keaku Canute follwed with 12.
