Sean Mamaclay, one of two Kapa‘a golfers, will be in the first foursome that tees off at 6:30 a.m. as the David S. Ishii Foundation Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Boys Golf Championships opens at the Royal Ka‘anapali Golf Course Tuesday and Wednesday.
Weston Moniz, the second Kapa‘a golfer, goes off at 9:40 a.m.
Following Mamaclay, Kaua‘i’s Jordan Oda tees off at 6:40 a.m., Wiley Yoshioka is in the 7 a.m. foursome, Levi Miyashiro is in the 7:30 a.m. group. Darren Valencia is in the 7:50 a.m. group, Kyle Furusho tees off with the 8:30 a.m. foursome and Cory Oride, whose sister Kelli finished No. 2 in the girls championship last week, shoots with the 9:20 a.m. foursome.
The Oride brother-sister team finished as KIF individualist for the 2009 season.
Kaua‘i High School boys team has earned state titles in 2005, 2004, 1989, and 1979.
David Ishii, the namesake of the tournament, was the first Kaua‘i golfer to win individualist honors in 1973. Other Kaua‘i golfers making top individualist honors include Jonathan Ota in 1979, Jaime Matsumura in 1999, and Kellen Watabu in 2005.
The second round of the 2009 David S. Ishii HHSAA Boys Golf Championships wrap up Wednesday.
