Linda Faye Collins, president of Kikiaola Land Co. since 1996, has retired from that position effective April 30, according to a press release.
Collins currently serves on the governor’s Kaua‘i Advisory Council, the Kaua‘i Regional Board of Hawai‘i Health Systems, the Kaua‘i Economic Development Board, the Kaua‘i Business Council, the board of the West Kaua‘i Community Development Corporation, Kaua‘i United Way, the Historic Kaua‘i Foundation Board and the Historic Hawai‘i Foundation.
Prior to taking the position of president of Kikiaola, she served on its board for many years. In 2007, the Kaua‘i Museum named her one of Kaua‘i’s Living Treasures.
Born and raised in Waimea, Collins is the daughter of the late Lindsay A. Faye Sr., long-time manager of Kekaha Sugar Co. and Leilani Scott, descendant of missionary Hiram Rice.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California. Early in her career, she taught English in California schools and was owner/operator of a successful florist shop in the San Francisco Bay Area. She returned to Kaua‘i in 1991 and following Hurricane ‘Iniki in 1992 established herself in the reconstruction financing of Kikiaola’s Waimea Plantation Cottages.
She is widely known for her story-telling talents, her sense of humor and hula-ukulele skills.
