Yuriko Saito of Makaweli died Feb. 25, 2009, at Garden Isle Care Home at age 97. Born Feb. 1, 1912, in Makaweli, she was a retired maid for Sinclair Robinson.
She is survived by son Terence Saito; daughters Janice (Edwin) Kaneshiro, Jane (Harry) Uyema and Effie Shimabukuro; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Kinue Mizuno, Midori Yanagawa and Tsuneyo Ikeda

Mary Ann Abreu of Lawa‘i died April 27, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 74. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by husband Nelson Abreu, son John Abreu, daughter Kimberley (Mike) Teel, sister Katie McCaffrey, brothers Joe Hinds and Irvin Hinds, grandchildren Devan and Hailey Teel and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michiyuki Uchida
Michiyuki “Midi” Uchida of Lihu‘e died April 28, 2009, at Regency at Puakea at age 92. Born May 20, 1916, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired police officer with the Kaua‘i Police Dept.
He was preceded in death by wife Sachie Uchida, father Sutetaro Uchida, daughter Dee Ann Eiko Uchida and sister Mutsuko Uchida.
He is survived by sons Alvin (Susan) Uchida of Lihu‘e, Barry (Cheryl) Uchida of Lake Oswego, Ore.; grandchildren Nick and Maile; brothers Philip Uchida of Honolulu and Masa Oda of Wailua Houselots; sisters Lillian Kasumi of Honolulu and Hatsuko (Isao) Shimabukuro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.

James Toguchi
James T. Toguchi of Kapa‘a died May 3, 2009, at his home in Kapa‘a at age 67. Born Aug. 6, 1941, in Lihu‘e, he was a janitor for the state of Hawai‘i.
He was preceded in death by parents Takeo and Tsuruko Toguchi.
He is survived by brother Thomas Toguchi of Texas, sisters Merlin Cummings of Kapa‘a and Marian Blase of California, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held.

Flora Senda
Flora M. Senda of Lihu‘e died April 22, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 85. Born June 3, 1923, in Lihu‘e, she was a clerk with Garden Island Motors.
She was preceded in death by father William J. Senda, mother Kayo Senda, sisters Eiko Muranaka and Akiko Senda, and brother George Senda.
She is survived by brothers Kazuo Senda of Lihu‘e and John Senda of Wailua Homesteads, and numerous nieces and nephews
Family requests no koden.

John “Kuhi” Kanahele of Kekaha died April 30, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 31. Born May 30, 1977, in Lihu‘e, he was a caregiver for Ho‘Oheno Inc.
He was preceded in death by father John L. Kanahele.
He is survived by mother Eleanor Kanahele; hanai sisters Rose (Johnny) Vaivao, Tano (Kaimana) Castaneda, Melanie Kaneapua, Samantha Vaivao, Kuulei (Joseph) Gardenhire, Keala Niheu, Shigeko (Nelson) Iguchi and Rowena (Mike) Pangan; hanai sons Daniel “Baby Kuhi” Manu, Quienten Kanehailu-Shimazu and Kaleohano Castaneda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel; services at 10:30 a.m.

Yoshiko “Doris” Yamamoto Nishikawa of Lihu‘e died April 29, 2009, at home at age 95. Born July 15, 1913, in Wahiawa, O‘ahu, she was the proprietor of the Nishikawa Store on Lala Road in Lihu‘e.
She was preceded in death by husband Masanori; parents Torazo and Mume; brothers Stanley, Larry and Mitsuji; sister Kimie Yamamoto, Tamae Miyashita, Alice Hiraki and Chiyoko Iwai; and sons-in-law Hiroshi Furushima and Earl Galdeira.
She is survived by sons Edwin (Gladys) of Los Angeles, Calif., Henry (Ann) of Lihu‘e and Herbert of Lihu‘e; daughters Bessie Furushima of Lihu‘e and Frances Galdeira of Honolulu; companion Bob Taira of Lihu‘e; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service 11 a.m.
Burial to follow at 3 p.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Graciano Meligro
Graciano “Gus” Meligro born in Kaumakani died April 29, 2009, at his home in Renton, Wa., at age 77. He served in the United States Coast Guard and worked for Boeing.
He is survived by sons Lawrence, Matthew and David; daughters Kelly and Maile; brother Pablo Maligro; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Valentine “Babe” “Papa” Adric Jr. died March 29, 2009, at age 58. Born Sept. 2, 1950, in Honolulu, he retired as a telephone splicer with Hawaiian Telephone Company.
He was preceded in death by parents Valentine “Empa” Adric and Amy Lou “Emma” Adric, sister Naomi Akiu of Hilo and granddaughter Hi‘ilei Hooikaika of Anahola.
