In the old days, it was “eat all the rice you want, but you only get one Vienna sausage” — that was the Plantation Days Sandie Kato-Klutke was talking about. She’ll be having Portuguese bean soup Friday at the Aston Islander on the Beach as a fundraiser for the Visitor Industry Charity Walk, and if you don’t think that’s going to be good, Lawton Sugihara is at the Islander on the Beach and everybody remembers how good the plate lunches at Aloha Airlines’ United Way fundraisers were.
Over on the South Shore, Troy Lazaro will have his moment in the sun with the Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club May Day, Friday. Go early and check out his lei contest as well.
Then on Saturday, visit Robbie Kaholokula (I wonder if daughter will take a turn emcee-ing), Chris Faye and the rest of the Kaua‘i Museum ‘ohana for the museum’s May Day (the banner says free admission) since it’s also Family Day.
Clyde Vito is thinking of doing the grand re-opening of the new floor at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center on May 2 so the Under 11 kids can start playing basketball again. Only problem, if it’s a Saturday, is Melanie Okamoto (Aaron Uyeda said she’s waiting for another newspaper appearance) going to be there?
OK, time to start rolling over the hill … lunch at Bobby’s before the KIF championship baseball sounds good.
