Erika Sy of the American Cancer Society said people can still come to the Relay for Life after the KIF volleyball game since the event at Hanapepe Stadium runs until 6 a.m., May 3.
Robyn Witts said this year ACS is hosting a relay on the North Shore at the Waioli Mission June 27 and everybody is getting excited since no one has done a North Shore relay event before.
They were on hand with Mary Williamson to cut the cake and the first 100 people over 50 years old got to celebrate “Having Colorectal Exams is a Piece of Cake.” Actually, they were celebrating ACS’s 50th anniversary and tied in with the Kukui Grove Friday night programming where Kaua‘i Police Commissioner Thomas Iannucci got to fill out one of the county’s Anti Drug Office questionnaires.
Larry Moises just got back from Maui where he took in a substance abuse workshop. He had some food for thought — if you go to a hospital with a gunshot wound, they call the police. If you go to a hospital with a dog bite, they call the police. If you go to the hospital with signs of abuse, they call the police. If you are underage and have to go to the hospital with alcohol poisoning, do they have to call the cops?
Just food for thought to wrap up April being Alcohol Awareness Month.
