HANAPEPE — A fire was reported at a Kane Road home in Hanapepe Heights at around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday evening, according to a county press release. No one was injured in the fire.
Quick action by neighbors, who called 911 immediately and used garden hoses to douse the flame, kept the fire confined to the laundry room, although the rest of the house had smoke damage, the release said.
When firefighters from the Hanapepe station arrived at the scene, the fire was almost extinguished.
Kalaheo firefighters arrived soon after, and the two crews worked together to put out the fire, which was deemed fully extinguished at 7:15 p.m.
Damage is estimated at $20,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
On Monday, there were two fires, one at a Puhi residence that was confined to a bedroom and another at a Po‘ipu condominium that had extensive damage.
