Valentine Adric Jr.
Valentine “Babe” “Papa” Adric Jr. died March 29, 2009, at age 58. Born Sept. 2, 1950, in Honolulu, he retired as a telephone splicer with Hawaiian Telephone Company.
He was preceded in death by parents Valentine “Empa” Adric and Amy Lou “Emma” Adric, sister Naomi Akiu of Hilo and granddaughter Hi‘ilei Hooikaika of Anahola.
He is survived by wife Blossom Maile Adric of Anahola; daughters Valerie (Johnathan) Caminos and Ellen (Billy) Hooikaika; sons Kolo (Liana) Adric, Elvin Adric, Alika (Pi‘i) Adric and hanai son Kawika “Chuuch” Kahaunaele, all of Anahola; sisters Kathryn “Irish” (Jimmy) Lontayao of Hilo, Sunny Honda of Anahola; brothers Rodney “Oggie” (Charlene) Adric of Kapa‘a, Gary (Brenda) Adric of Anahola and Joseph (Grace) Adric of Kapa‘a; brother-in-law George Akiu; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Anahola Beach.

Leonardo ’Pete’ Nero
Leonardo “Pete” Nero (Papa Pete) of Wailua Homesteads died April 14, 2009, at his home at age 59. Born June 26, 1949, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired Kauai Electric power plant supervisor.
He was preceded in death by parents Feliciano and Brigida Nero, brother Jose Nero and grandson Kiliwehi Reynon.
He is survived by wife Lillian Nero; children Maile (Tim) Reynon, Byron (Summer) Nero, Kristie (Abel) Salgado, Kapono (Piilani) Nero, Randall and Kanoe Nero; siblings Elang Tongson, Shano (Flo) Longboy, Addie (Ernest) Javier, Espe (William) Cadavona, Cathy (Rudy) Agoot, Julie (Delson) Kaluhiokalani; 15 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
Visitation 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lihu‘e; service 11:15-noon.
Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Richard “Dickie” Furtado of Kailua, O‘ahu, died April 8, 2009, at age 80. Born June12, 1928, in Kekaha, he retired from Hawai‘i Stevedores Inc.
He was Preceded in death by Patsy Furtado.
He is survived by Clifford (Patty) Furtado, Wesley (Marla) Furtado, Cheryl (Bill) McConnell and Jamie (Kalani) Furtado; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John Jay Camelo of Puhi died April 16, 2009, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at age 54. Born May 17, 1954, in Puhi he retired as a heavy equipment operator from the county Department of Water.
He is survived by sons Ben (Melisse) Camelo of Kalaheo, Lambert Camelo of Puhi and Clifton (Pua) Camelo of Lihu‘e; one grandson; five granddaughters; brothers Pancho (Debbra) Camelo of Kapa‘a and Dominic Camelo of O‘ahu; sisters Gloria (Leroy) Martin of O‘ahu, Cindy Camelo of Kapa‘a, Stella (Kookie) Amulation of Hanapepe, Priscilla (Ricard) Aki of Lihu‘e, Norma (Timmy) Ragragola of Kekaha, Eva Camelo of Hilo and Donna Camelo of Kapa‘a; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hiroshi “Hiro The Chili Pepper Man” Furushima of Lihu‘e died April 18, 2009, at home at age 83. Born April 6, 1926, in Makaweli, he was retired from Olokele Sugar Co.
He was preceded in death by parents Manzo and Tome; and brothers Shigeji, Takeo “Richard,” Tsutomu “Slim,” Shinichi “Sam” Furushima.
He is survived by wife Bessie (Nishikawa) Furushima of Lihu‘e, daughter Lorene (Michael) Park of Mililani, grandson Gavin Park, granddaughter Erin Park, sisters-in-law Evelyn Furushima and Matsue Furushima of Honolulu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 11 a.m.

Robert “Bobby” Miyazaki of Waimea died April 15, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 77. He was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Waimea.
He was preceded in death by parents Kumao and Uki Miyazaki and brother Yoshio Miyazaki.
He is survived by sisters Kikue Kusatani of Honolulu, Mitsue Yamakawa of Kalaheo, Alice Yoshimori of Koloa and numerous nieces and nephews.

Masashi Harry “Cowboy” Otsuka died April 5, 2009, at his Moloka‘i home. He was born and raised on the east end of Moloka‘i.
He is survived by son Lyle Otsuka (Renee) of Lihu‘e, daughter (Windee-Lou “Honey” Martin) of Kekaha, brothers Ernest Otsuka of O‘ahu and Tadashi Otsuka of Moloka‘i, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hilario B. Agbincola of Kapa‘a died April 19, 2009, at his home in Kapa‘a at age 98. Born June 10, 1910, in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a mechanic for Pineapple Industry.
He is survived by caregiver Chris (Barry) Brun; sons Edward (Mary) Agbincola, Patrick (Denia) Agbincola and Frances Agbincola; daughters Florence (Gary) Motoyame, Dorothy Nitte, Theresa Agbincola and Barbara Deboer; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
