Izumo is currently in sixth place with a 1,631 pinfall following eight games in the tournament that started Sunday at the Lihu‘e Bowling Center.
Defending champion Tyler Jensen of Keller, Texas is two pins short of current leader Adam Ahmad of Pullman, Wash., with a 1,719 pinfall to Ahmad’s 1,721.
Keith Odette (1,705) of Waipahu, Lance Kim (1,694) and Chad Rojas (1,635) of Wahiawa fill in the third through fifth place slots, respectively.
Tony Reyes of San Bruno, Calif., a touring pro and always a crowd pleaser at the Lihu‘e Bowling Center, is currently in seventh place with 1,621, 10 pins back of Izumo.
Chad Uyehara (1,610) of Fresno, Calif., Jon Brandon (1,591) of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Craig Diver (1,573) of Spring, Texas, round out the 10 advancing bowlers.
Rodney Garrick (1,556) of San Francisco is the alternate.
Following the eight games, Olin Kaulili of Koloa finished in 14th place with a 1,528 pinfall followed by Mary Jean Abigania with a 1,364. Sheldon Peralta of Lawai finished with a 1,335 followed by Kyrin Sasaki of Lihu‘e at 1,298.
Following the Rice Shopping Center Open, the PBA Tour moves to the Hickam Bowling Center on O‘ahu for the PBA West/Northwest Hickam AFB Open on April 24-26.
