Lihu‘e shut down Kapa‘a 6-0, Kalawai nipped Hanapepe 3-2, and Koloa pushed a run ahead of Kekaha 5-4 as the Kaua‘i PONY Baseball season started Thursday.
Games are next played Sunday, with a doubleheader at Kapa‘a New Park and a single game at Anne Knudsen Park (Koloa) field.
In the first contest, Hanapepe will try for its season-first win against Lihu‘e, starting at 10 a.m. at Kapa‘a. That match will be followed by Kekaha taking on Kapa‘a, starting at 12:45 p.m. Both teams are looking for their first season win.
Kalawai will go up against Koloa in a single game at the Koloa field.
There is no admission charge to watch the competition, and games are on Thursdays at 4:15 p.m. and Sundays starting at 10 a.m.
On April 23, Lihu‘e hosts Kalawai at Vidinha Stadium, Koloa hosts Kapa‘a in Koloa, and Hanapepe hosts Kekaha at Hanapepe Stadium.
