LIHU‘E — The 60-day public review period for the county’s draft Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan update started this week and ends on June 9, according to a county press release.
The ISWMP is the county’s blueprint for short- and long-term management of its municipal solid waste programs.
The draft plan is available on the county Web site, www.kauai.gov. Hard copies of the plan are available at all public libraries on Kaua‘i and the Solid Waste office located in the Mo‘ikeha Building at the Lihu‘e Civic Center.
Comments will be accepted through June 9 via e-mail sent to afraley@kauai.gov or regular mail sent to Allison Fraley, County of Kaua‘i, Solid Waste Division, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 275, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.
A public hearing on the ISWMP Update will be held on May 12 at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Following the public review period, the plan will be finalized and submitted to the County Council for adoption. The plan will then be sent to the state Department of Health for final approval.
