Bryson Baligad, Dutch Fairbanks, Evan Hamamoto, Cody Ishiguro, Ka‘eo Kruse, Anya Littlefield, Pualei Pratt and Yasmine Ware had nothing but first-place finishes in the Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics individual meet held Saturday at the YMCA of Kaua‘i pool in Puhi.
All but Hamamoto and Ware are SKA members. Hamamoto and Ware swim unattached to any club, according to a SKA press release.
Baligad took first place in the boys 11-12 age division 100-meter breaststroke, in 1:25.83; in the 50 free, in 29.24; in the 100 individual medley, in 1:16.21; and in the 50 breaststroke, in 40.43. That final event was a Hawai‘i youth swimming time that gets him invited to a big meet at Manoa on O‘ahu on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26.
Fairbanks swept the following races in the following times in the boys 8 and under division: 50 back, 48.50; 50 free, 42.52; 100 individual medley, 1:45.50; and 50 breaststroke, 56.99.
Hamamoto won the following races in the following times in the boys 13-14 age group: 100 breaststroke, 1:21.33; 100 butterfly, 1:06.61; 200 individual medley, 2:31.57; 200 butterfly, 2:45.75; and 100 backstroke, 1:14.09. The first three and last time also qualify him for the Manoa invitational.
Ishiguro swept the boys 15-16 age group in the following events in the following times: 100 butterfly, 1:10.34; 100 freestyle, 1:00.49; 50 freestyle, 26.65; and 200 freestyle, 2:15.61. His 50 freestyle time qualifies him for the Manoa meet.
Kruse won the following events in the following times in the boys 9-10 age division: 100 butterfly, 1:26.94; 100 individual medley, 1:24.30; 100 freestyle, 1:11.57; and 200 individual medley, 2:57.13.
Littlefield swept the following events in the following times in the girls 15-16 age division, with the final three times qualifying her for participation in the Manoa invitational: 100 breaststroke, 1:27.33; 200 individual medley, 2:32.14; 200 breaststroke, 3:01.25; and 400 individual medley, 5:23.45.
Pratt swept the girls 9-10 age group in the following races with the following times (all the times qualify her for participation in the Manoa invitational): 50 backstroke, 44:06; 100 individual medley, 1:33.31; 50 breaststroke, 48.96; and 100 backstroke, 1:35.82.
Ware won the following events in the following times in the girls 11-12 age group: 100 breaststroke, 1:18.75; 200 freestyle, 2:14.15; 50 butterfly, 31.38; 100 freestyle, 59.08; and 200 individual medley, 2:29.87.
According to SKA Coach Billy Brown, the next home meet is Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m. at the YMCA of Kaua‘i pool in Puhi.
