Thomas Patrick McCarthy of Hanalei died March 31, 2009, at age 53. Born Feb. 15, 1956, in Honolulu, he was an insecticide applicator for Princeville Golf Course andtaro farmer for Harada’s Taro Farm. He was preceded in death by parents James and Eleanor McCarthy and sister Patricia Duh. He is survived by daughters Thomasyna (Al) Bungula of Puhi, Jamery (Isaac) McCarthy of Kapa‘a and Kahea (Keola) McCarthy of Kapa‘a; son Turbo McCarthy of Hanalei; hanai parents Yoshi and Nani Harada of Hanalei; eight grandchildren; sisters Gwen (Evans) Shimoda of Honolulu, Marlene (Glen Don) Fivella of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation from 10 to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Lihu‘e Veterans Center; services at noon. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
