The birthday present that the Thunder baseball team gave their head coach was a league championship title.
The icing on the cake was a no-hitter in the championship game, twirled by Kurt Napoleon, Dusten Ramseyer-Burdett and Thomas “Boogie” Yam.
Happy belated birthday, Head Coach Abe Kuhaulua.
“Boogie” and “Braddah” led the way for the second-seeded Thunder in the championship game of the 2009 Kawaihau Minors Division Little League season.
Thomas “Boogie” Yam scored what would be the winning run and then closing the door on the top-seeded Angels’ attack with eight strikeouts in the last three innings, in relief of winning pitcher Ramseyer-Burdett.
Christopher “Braddah” Yam cracked an insurance, in-the-park home run, Napoleon had a 2-RBI single, Isaac Nagahisa got an RBI on a bases-loaded walk, and Ramseyer-Burdett scored a run as well.
The Thunder hurlers allowed five walks.
In the semifinals, the Thunder downed the Marlins to advance to the championship game.
