Former University of Hawai‘i center Samson Satele has been traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Oakland Raiders.
Satele’s trade, announced on Monday, was for an undisclosed draft pick for the Dolphins. In February, the Dolphins picked up free agent Jake Grove, foreshadowing that Satele may have been switched to play a different position, or to be traded.
Satele became the first rookie in franchise history to start at center in every regular-season game. The 25-year-old Satele was a second-round draft pick (60th overall) in 2007.
He made his playoff debut in the AFC Wild Card game against the Baltimore Ravens. Satele was most recently spotted on Kaua‘i during Pro Bowl week. Satele was one of many players who visited the Neighbor Islands to host football clinics.
