Miami Dolphins wide receiver Davone Bess is giving a lucky fan or memorabilia collector, the opportunity to walk in his shoes — or at least the chance to own them.
The former University of Hawai‘i Warrior has put a pair of his white and orange Nike game shoes up for auction with the proceeds going to the Miami Dolphins Foundation, an organization committed to improving the quality of life for South Florida’s youth.
Bess made his playoff debut in January of this year against the Baltimore Ravens and two catches for 54 yards. The rookie, who in December 2008 was on pace to having one of the most productive seasons ever by an undrafted rookie free agent, finished the season with 54 catches for 554 and one touchdown — a 7-yard touchdown in October against the Ravens.
Bess was a member of the turn-around team who won the AFC East division title. A season prior, the Dolphins managed to win just one game.
As of Thursday afternoon, Bess’ shoes picked up 10 bids and was up to $205. He and teammate Yeremiah Bell were the only two Dolphins to put their shoes up for auction.
