Dustin Rita won 4-of-5 of the third to fifth grade events for a near clean sweep of the his division. That earned him the all-around cowboy title in the High School Divisions of the Kaua‘i Keiki and High School Rodeo Association fifth rodeo of the season on Saturday.
Britni Ludington-Braun won both the Girls Barrel Racing and Girls Pole Bending and Levi Rita won the Boys Tie Down Roping and Steer Wrestling. Kristy Pimental earned a win in the junior high division, and Cheyenne Tannery won the goat tying with a quick hands tie of 25.91.
Alexis Vasconcelles of the junior high division nailed the break away roping event with a very respectable time of 9.315 on two go’s.
The kindergarten through second grade division showed an almost a clean sweep similar to Rita’s by Keanu Fernandes who won all but the reach roping and he too won the all around cowboy title.
Makena Murayama proved to be the super looper for reach roping laying down his loop in a speedy 22.676.
