LA JOLLA, Calif. — The University of Hawai‘i men’s volleyball team lost for the second straight night against UC San Diego, 3-2, Saturday in La Jolla, Calif.
With the loss, No. 12 Hawai‘i falls to a 4-13 overall and 3-11 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action. No. 8 UCSD improves to 10-10 overall and 6-9 in conference play.
The UH Warriors lost the first two sets before battling back to take the next two, but could not complete the comeback in the fifth set. Match scores were 21-30, 27-30, 30-23, 30-28, 13-15.
Brennon Dyer and Sean Carney led the way for UH with 19 kills apiece. Carney added nine digs and five blocks and Dyer hit .324 for the match.
Jim Clar had 11 kills, nine digs and five blocks while Nejc Zemljak had 52 assists and 13 digs.
Frank Fritsch, Jason Spangler and Gerald Houseman each had 15 kills to lead UCSD.
