KAPA‘A — Keala Davis had a hat trick to lead the Midget B to an 8-6 win over Midget A Sunday at the Kapa‘a rink.
Davis finished with a goal and two assists, Friday night as the Midget B edged the Midget A, 6-5 to complete a weekend sweep in that division of the Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association games.
Noa Chun, finishing Sunday’s games with two goals and an assist, was instrumental in Friday night’s outing for the Midget B as Chun, coming off the Red Raiders’ soccer season, finished with a hat trick and an assist.
Chun broke a 5-5 stalemate with just four ticks remaining in the contest for an unassisted goal in the win.
Trevor McCracken, initiating new wheels, finshed Sunday with two goals and Ikaika Fuerte, rolling on just three wheels, added a goal and three assists in the Sunday win that came when Midget B took advantage of three opportunities for power plays when the Midget A was called on tripping penalties and Midget B took a 4-2 lead at the half.
Midget B was also called for tripping, but lost a player just once.
Greg Balmores, the Midget B goalkeeper, finished Sunday with 37 saves on 42 shots. His Friday night performance saw 14 saves on 29 shots.
Midget A got two goals and an assist from Mark Wojcinski, and a goal each from Mike Goodnight, Brian Bodine, John Masterson and Pete Brooks. Mika Givens finished with two assists.
Jaime Pablo, the Midget A goalie, finished Sunday with 33 saves on 41 shots. On Friday, Pablo finished with 41 saves on 44 shots.
Wojcinski paced that night’s scoring with a hat trick with Wakayama adding two goals and an assist. Brooks also had an assist.
Trevor McCracken finished with four goals, Friday and came up with two goals and two assists, Sunday for Da Eh Team.
But Team Todd kept the sweep out of reach as both teams battled to a 7-7 deadlock, Sunday after Da Eh Team notched a 9-5 win over Da Red Devils, Friday night.
Matthias Davis came up with four goals for Da Eh Team, Sunday and finished with two goals, Friday.
Marissa Aceret had the final goal for Da Eh Team, Sunday while Eli Leech-Kritchman added two goals and Kainalu Gandia netted one, Friday night.
Daniel Alonzo, goalkeeping for Da Eh Team, finished Sunday with 42 saves on 44 shots and had 37 saves on 42 shots, Friday night.
Jacob Lewis and Kala Yee paced the Team Todd scoring, Sunday, Jacob Lewis also marking two assists. Zack Lewis Sierra Mayer and Ben Steuri each added a goal while Noah Leggett and Cascade Mayer, retreating from her high lift video project, finished with assists.
Team Todd goalkeeper Stephanie Steuri finished with 37 saves on 44 shots.
Kawai Peahu paced the Red Devils’ scoring, Friday with a hat trick followed by Cydney Sitzler adding two goals and two assists. Marcus Punua finished with an assist and goalkeeper Iki Punua finished with 34 saves on 43 shots.
Eric Capriena had four goals and an assist and Isaac Lakatos finished with a hat trick to lead the Devils to a 12-6 win over the Green Machine after dropping a 6-5 match, Friday night.
Joshua Lakatos helped the Devils, a Squirt division team, with two goals and an assist followed by Luke Boyd netting one and marking an assist Sunday. Edward Punua and Laakea Cabriera finished with a goal each, Sunday.
The Devils was held to just two goals each from Joshua Lakatos and Edward Punua, Friday with Punua adding an assist. Isaac Lakatos finished with a goal and an assist and Jessica Mowery added two assists, Friday when the Devils outshot the Green Machine 3-1 in the second half.
Kainalu Gandia paced the Green Machine’s Sunday outing with four goals followed by Shannon Sitzler finishing with a goal and two assists. Brody Soong, netting his first-ever goal last week, netted another with Derek Soong assisting, almost a repeat of last week’s performance.
Shannon Sitzler came up with the only Green Machine goal in the second half, Friday to pace that win. She finished with two goals in the edge. Kainalu Gandia finished with two goals and an assist. Kalena Harder and Victor Sanchez each netted a goal for the Friday night win.
Tomas Sanchez did goaltending duty for the Green Machine with 17 saves on 22 shots, Friday and Luke Boyd finished with 22 saves on 28 shots for the Red Devils.
Games continue at the Kapa‘a rink on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons with the public invited to view the competition between the three divisions.
