Hats off to Jon Kobayashi, Michael Koerte, Teddy Pereira and all the Menehune supporters who pulled the Waimea Invitational Softball Tournament together.
Waimea trainer Nicole Farr was thrilled to meet someone from Newport News, Va., and even more thrilled when the trainer from Mid-Pacific had a mutual acquaintance.
Coach Albert Soto was not going to miss this tournament and got to enjoy it from the shade of his favorite poinciana tree (it’s 5 o’clock somewhere in the world). Coach Clifton Hashimoto joined Albert when the sun began to get a little more like the Westside.
OK, so if you’ve got a hankering from the Aunty Lilikoi pie and the Ishihara Market poke, today is a good day to go West since the KIF baseball game is in Hanapepe Stadium, the Waimea tennis is hosting Kapa‘a at the school’s courts and the championship game for the softball tournament is a perfect way to watch the sun go down.
Kudos to Billy Gibson (he gets to seat people outside of Fine Dining) and the KCC culinary arts team on a great Grand Buffet! Charlene Navarro of the Kaua‘i High School Key Club was there and said they’ve had all kinds of people stopping by the Salvation Army Thrift Store to check out the work of the school’s marketing class. That must mean the display works!
