The Kaua‘i Baby Book Club was organized 15 years ago by Nikky Mori, Literacy Coordinator for the Kaua‘i Community School for Adults.
The focus of the program was to provide books for families so reading daily to the babies could be part of their upbringing.
With the support of Borders Books and Music, Kaua‘i Baby Book Club was formed. The group was able to obtain funds to provide books to all babies born on Kaua‘i and to provide a book yearly up to age three.
Several hundred babies and toddlers received books through this program.
Unfortunately circumstances made it impossible to continue the program.
When it was learned that the Kaua‘i Association for Family and Community Education had a “Books for Newborns” program the Kaua‘i Baby Book Club dissolved their program and gave the remaining funds to KAFCE.
