Joe Brun said holidays are for business people, Christmas is for the rest of us.
He was helping Tina pack goodie bags and baskets for Kaua‘i’s homeless at the St. Rafael Church, Wednesday. Paul Curtis was there helping, but getting excited because his daughter is coming home from the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo.
Gini Kapali came through with not nine people, but 15 volunteers from the Kukui‘ula Development Co. to help with the project, and she’s such a good keeper of supplies, even Paul couldn’t get an extra Santa hat (they’re embroidered with “Kukui‘ula”).
OK, so for some holiday fun, Augie T and Ron Wiley are supposed to be at Midpac Auto where they’re going to give away a car for Christmas sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m (just enough time to make it over the bridge for the Waimea parade). And, don’t forget KIF soccer is at Kapa‘a, too.
Speaking of parades, Ho‘ike Community TV has the Lights on Rice parade airing through Christmas.
And if the kiddies need some release, Pete Gallardo and the Garden Angels have the Kapa‘a Water Park set up at the Kapa‘a Beach Park this weekend. If the sun decides to come out, the water slides should be a winner.
Mahalo to Yukie DeSilva for sending along “Da Night Bafo Christmas.” It just hits the spot just like the Lapperts’ cookies.
