Kathy Miyake is flying high on excitement. Kathy had her Central Pacific Bank people out for the Lights on Rice parade Friday night and followed that with an all-day Lokahi kickoff at Kukui Grove, Saturday. Then, if that wasn’t enough, it was the company Christmas party, Saturday night.
But Kathy wasn’t alone as Randall Francisco donned a traffic vest (he said he did that on O‘ahu) and jumped in as a volunteer for the Lights on Rice parade. Hats off to Gini Kapali, Faith Shiramizu, Barbara Bloemke (she had to take time out from an O‘ahu class), Theresa Koki (don’t forget the Underage Drinking presentation, Thursday in Kapa‘a) and Bev Pang, who is trying to figure out how the window of her red car went down, for doing such a great job getting the parade together!
Danny Abreau of McDonald’s had to trade down to an older Mustang so Ronald McDonald could be lit, and Ilima Rivera was juggling two performances that night. Larry Rivera said he had the real Menehune Santa at the Kukui Grove show, and came back Saturday to join Gina Mangieri of KHON2 for the Lokahi Project.
Waimea girls soccer coach Dan Agan was enjoying some lunch at Kukui Grove, tying up loose ends he couldn’t do Friday because of the parade. Dan will be on the field Wednesday when the KIF opens its soccer season at Hanapepe Stadium.
