Debra Allen
Debra Allen died on Nov. 24, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 57.
Born on June 2, 1951, in Oregon, she was a program analyst.
Survived by son Dominick Allen; daughter Raquel Patao; three grandchildren; sisters Penny Merrill and Sherry Moran.
A celebration of life and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Manuel Brun Jr.
Manuel Brun Jr. died on Nov. 15, 2008, at the Hilo Medical Center at the age of 82.
Born Feb. 4, 1926, in Ele‘ele, he was retired from Kaua‘i Electric Co.
Survived by wife Cynthia Brun of Honokaa; son Michael (Debora) Brun of Mt. View; daughters Josephine “JoJo” Mahi of Kona, Stephanie Saffery of Kaua‘i, Elizabeth “Tita” Kaolowi of Waimea, Donna (Jerry) Jarra of Hilo, Doreen (Joseph) Carveiro III of Ainaloa and Ashley Brun of Kaua‘i; stepson Luke Damien (Cheryl) Octavio Jr. of Hilo; stepdaughters Theresa Octavia of Kaua‘i and Lucinda (Afu) Lefaosu of Honolulu; brother Joseph (Tina) Brun of Kaua‘i; sisters Beatrice Canno of Texas and Margaret Routt of Louisiana; brothers-in-law Edward Reyes Sr. of Honolulu and Patricio (Reno) Agoto Jr. of Kaua‘i; sisters-in-law Gloria (Bobby) Dezsy of Honolulu, Cecelea Vidinha, Sharon (Clarence) Corpuz and Sandra (Tev) Goldman, all of Kaua‘i; 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing services will also be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 6, 2008 followed by Mass at Holy Cross Church, Kalaheo, Kaua‘i. Burial will follow Mass at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Cemetery.
Aloha wear is suggested.

Jean Kakuda
Jean Tsuyako Kakuda died on Nov. 13, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 83.
Born on Aug. 28, 1925, in Koloa, she was a homemaker.
Survived by sons Michael and Owen of Waimea; Jaysen (Florence) of Hanapepe, Jon and Mark of Waimea; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Kiyoko Sako of Koloa; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were private.

Charles Kanahele
Charles H. Kanahele died on Nov. 24, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorila Hospital at the age of 54.
Born on Aug. 23, 1954, on the island of Ni‘ihau, he was a rancher.
Survived by wife Caroline Miraoka Kanahele; children Angelene, Leslie, Holden and Lucky Kanahele.
A celebration of life and graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2008 at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery

Antone Ruiz
Antone Calley Ruiz died Nov. 27, 2008, in Rockwell, Texas, at the age of 86.
Born on Oct. 28, 1922, in Koloa, he was an operating engineer.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 3, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 4, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Cynthia Jean Ruiz died Nov. 23, 2008, in Madera Calif., at the age of 57.
Born on Nov. 27, 1950, in Koloa, she was a retired nurses aide.
Viewing will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2008 at Smith Manor Grace Chapel.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Alice Oshiro
Alice Michie Oshiro died on Nov. 23, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 73.
Born on Jan. 25, 1935, she was a retired sales clerk.
Preceeded in death by brothers Yoshimasa Fujimura and Ernest Fujimura; sister Mildred Shimatsu. She is survived by husband Shigeo Oshiro; sons Milton (Marla) Oshiro of ‘Ele‘ele, Russell (Judy) Oshiro of Honolulu, and Clayton Oshiro of Ele‘ele; brother George (Leonida) Fujimura of Kekaha; sisters Hisako Conner of Honolulu, Betty (Wallace) Nakamoto of Hanama‘ulu and Marilyn (Dan) O’Bryant of Minnesota; three grandchildren; sister-in-law Ann Fujimura of Honolulu; brother-in-law Fumiyuki Shimatsu of Kekaha; numerous nephews and nieces.
Service were private.

Concepcion Koerte Medina died on Nov. 25, 2008, at Wicox Hospital at the age of 91.
Born on Jan. 25, 1917, in Hawai‘i, she was a homemaker.
Survived by son David (Marlow) Koerte Jr. of Kapa‘a,; daughters Rose M. (Jose S.) Castillo of El Paso, Texas, and Eleanor Pontes of Kalaheo; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; sister Angel De Valle of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 3, 2008 at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Kapaia; inurnment to follow. Casual attire is suggested.
