Domi’s ‘ohana was working hard at inauguration, keeping track of all the lei coming across the table. Lani Kawahara’s mom came from the Mainland just for the inauguration as did Betsy Chang (yes, that’s Dickie Chang’s mother). And through all the activity, Ron Wiley got to sit through the formal inauguration and still make it to the Kaua‘i Hospice 2008 Candle Lighting Ceremony where he did an excellent job reading out all the names.
But one of the thrills of attending inaugurations has to be listening to Bill Dahle emcee the event as he’s done for elections past. J Robertson was there to work with the Ho‘ike TV crews, and Jan Tenbruggencate would not miss this for the world.
Neil Sams of Orchid Alley said they’ll be at the Princeville craft thingie this weekend. The beauty of orchids is that you get to enjoy them now and through Christmas if you get the right ones. No need to wrap, just enjoy.
And if you’re out north, drop in on the Princeville Library’s book sale, Saturday.
OK, it’s parade time … Kaua‘i Museum Christmas Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Festival of Lights lighting of the historic County Building at 6 p.m. and the Lights on Rice parade. Get your seats early.
