Edward Lopatka died on Nov. 24, 2008, at home at the age of 78.
Born on Sept. 4, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., he was a retired school psychologist.
Preceded in death by parents Victoria and Leo Lopatka; twin brother Ted Lopatka.
Survived by wife Linda; mother-in-law Kathryn Lee; daughter Cathy (Mark) Walker of Illinois son Michael (Ann) Rauh of Illinois, Amy (Michael) McClain of Lihu‘e, Elizabeth Rauh of Maui, Margaret Rauh of Illinois, Mary Rauh of New York, John Paul (Liz) Rauh of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one niece and one nephew.
A celebration of his life will be held on Dec. 13, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. with cremation to follow.
Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Catholic Charities, Kaua‘i Food Bank or Kaua‘i Hospice.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Lopatka family with arrangements.
Noriyuki Kurosaki
Noriyuki Kurosaki died on Nov. 26, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.
Born in Koolau, Kaua‘i, on June 28, 1918, he was a container supervisor with McCabe, Hamilton & Renny.
Survived by wife, Hideko Kurosaki; son, Alvin; daughters, Jean and Joan all of Lihue; brother, Thomas Kurosaki of Lihu‘e; sisters, Kazue (Wataru) Hiranaka of Lihu‘e and Mitsuko (Fusetsu) Miyazaki of Ele‘ele.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission; service at 3:30 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Manuel Brun Jr. died on Nov. 15, 2008, at the Hilo Medical Center at the age of 82.
Born Feb. 4, 1926, in ‘Ele‘ele he was retired from Kaua‘i Electric Co.
Survived by wife Cynthia Brun of Honokaa; son Michael (Debora) Brun of Mt. View; daughters Josephine “JoJo” Mahi of Kona, Stephanie Saffery of Kaua‘i, Elizabeth “Tita” Kaolowi of Waimea, Donna (Jerry) Jarra of Hilo, Doreen (Joseph) Carveiro III of Ainaloa and Ashley Brun of Kaua‘i; stepson Luke Damien (Cheryl) Octavio Jr. of Hilo; stepdaughters Theresa Octavia of Kaua‘i and Lucinda (Afu) Lefaosu of Honolulu; brother Joseph (Tina) Brun of Kaua‘i; sisters Beatrice Canno of Texas and Margaret Routt of Louisiana; brothers-in-law Edward Reyes Sr. of Honolulu and Patricio (Reno) Agoto Jr. of Kaua‘i; sisters-in-law Gloria (Bobby) Dezsy of Honolulu, Cecelea Vidinha, Sharon (Clarence) Corpuz and Sandra
(Tev) Goldman, all of Kaua‘i; 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing services will also be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 6, followed by Mass at Holy Cross Church, Kalaheo, Kaua‘i.
Burial will follow Mass at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Cemetery.
