It’s official. We’re only in the second year of our Football Frenzy but I would say it’s time to retire this one man’s jersey. Time to retire his number.
I think it’s time to create a fictitious Football Frenzy Hall of Fame and induct its first member: Pedro Tagatac.
I’m only joking about retiring his number, of course, because he is welcome to play as often as he wishes, but I’m pleased to announce that Tagatac of Lihu‘e has beaten the panel yet again.
Tagatac was a multi-winner last year and has won one of our contests a total of four times — once as a panelist and three times as the weekly winner.
Tagatac went 10-for-13 this week with his only downfalls being the Kaua‘i/Radford game — which we all got wrong — the Tennessee/New York Jets game and the Philadelphia/Baltimore game.
Still, he fared much better than our panel did. Webmaster Richard Stein had a good week, finishing 8-5. I had one of my worst finishes, 7-6 and KQNG radio personality Ron Wiley had a low 5-8, keeping him a safe distance from me on the overall leaderboard.
It’s a shame we couldn’t include yesterday’s Thanksgiving games, but maybe they would have just been too easy anyway. You’ll see that this week, a lot of our picks are the same. Either these guys are getting smarter or they just want to be like me.
Joining us on the panel for the first time is George P. Mendoza of Lihu‘e. Congratulations and good luck to all. There are only a couple more weeks of the Football Frenzy, so get those ballots in. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.
