Hats off to Kevin Medeiros on a great basketball camp (it doesn’t rain inside the gym) Saturday. Coach Russell Grady had some of his girls out for the session as did coach Cecil Gee.
Russell said he has two pairs of sisters, Kathleen and Kelsey Cadiente and Janessa and Jennifer Grady, on the team this year. He couldn’t figure out when the last time Kaua‘i High School had two sisters, let alone two pairs of sisters, on the same team at the same time.
Coach Phil Baclayon dropped in to check out the action on his way to Jim Rosa’s yard in the Arzadon Industrial Park where the Kapa‘a basketball boys were selling furniture as a fundraiser. This is the second time the team was doing the sale.
Hats off to Andy Melamed of KQNG Radio on sparkplugging the Food Fest at Kukui Grove Center. What a great way to spend a drizzly day. Lei Nakayama (Kaua‘i Bakery provided a couple of cakes) is already gearing up for all those custard and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, and Dean got to run away to O‘ahu for the UH vs. Idaho game. Kelvin Moniz was with UH all the way with his UH cap and even a UH jacket to run from the food court to his car, and Judy Lenthall was really busy collecting all the tickets and food.
